i'm really torn here. i think this fight makes perfect sense in that both these guys won their last fight, and it produces an undeniable challenger to Fedor.
In many ways i think this is a better fight than Fedor/AA or Fedor/Barnett. The thing that sucks tho is the loser is not going to really be in a worthy position to challenge Fedor, and dammit, i want to see Fedor fight both of them.
Anyway, this is an awesome fight in its own right.

Fuuuuck I wanna see Fedor fight. AA vs Barnett will be a good fight but in the grand scheme of things it's pretty lame, you're removing a good fight between Fedor and a Top 10 Challanger which stinks.

Agree with maplan.
I'd prefer to see Fedor fight AA, give Barnett a relatively easy win (as possible as that is given the number of upsets that tend to occur) and then Fedor (assuming he beats AA) has a good next fight. And should AA win, Barnett becomes his next opponent then.
Would have helped Affliction produce a few consecutive good cards with their relatively light roster.

Who's the fucking retard who can't read posts properly? I said I want to see Fedor fight I didn't say why isn't he fighting, so no question involved, I don't need you to tell me why he isn't fighting. It's like saying I want to see Anderson Silva fight GSP, it ain't happening at least for some time but I still want to see it.
Anyhow AA vs Barnett will set up a challanger but the loser won't be anywhere near a fight with Fedor which is a god damn shame because both of those fighters would make an excellent fight with Fedor. The prospect of Fedor fighting Arlovski then CC or Overeem and then Barnett was mouth watering, but with AA and Barnett fighting there's no way in hell that's happening now. This does open the door for a Couture fight sometime during the fall but when? Fedor's fighting in Japan NYE, and Affliction's 3rd show won't be until next year. By the time Couture gets over his legal woes with the UFC anyway he won't even be classified as Top 10. Meh, the Couture fight loses it's luster with every day that goes by.

AA v Barnett sounds great, but like its been mentioned above knocks one of these guys out of contention to face fedor once his hand heals...unless either fighter can rack up a couple more wins and challenge fedor late 09....anyways im pumped for october
