Randys ducking out on his contract made me lose alot of the respect i had for him. Plus i dont think hes even a top 3 heavyweight. I'm glad Timmy gets his shot at fedor before randy, i think tim/fedor makes for a more interesting match up anyways.

the potential for Fedor to blow up in the American MMA scene by beating Randy in the biggest US mma stage is gone.

lastly, with all the drama that went back and forth between Fedor, Randy, and the UFC over the fight has sorta sullied it for me.
So why would the best heavyweights in the world still want to fight them, because they arnt ranked? And if you haven't noticed Fedor doesnt care about blowing anything up in America.

I didn't even bother reading the explainations.

Before you type/believe something... say it out loud to see if it sounds ridiculous. I think it's hilarious to think of real MMA fans out there saying, "I wouldn't care if FEDOR EMELIANENKO and RANDY COUTURE, two of the greatest fighters of all time, ever fought."

Yeah, it looks as ridiculous when I type it as when I think of people believing it.

It's MMA people!!! And it's Randy Couture and Fedor Emelianenko... who the eff wouldn't be interested if they fought?!?!?!?!?!?!

I mean, Fedor fights Timmeh and people WILL tune in. say you're not interested but you will watch it. lol.

(I just love the thought of Fedor vs Randy fighting and ALL THOSE PEOPLE sitting at home watching Friends reruns because they're "not interested" in the fight. Seriously guys.)

Because by the time it happens, their walkers are going to prevent any ground game or kicks. They're past their primes, and whatever the outcome, it'll NEVER live up to the hype. Personally, I don't think it would EVER be a GREAT fight, but rather a fight that answers a bunch of questions. Fedor, as great as he was, wasn't that exciting to watch. Randy was a guy you just had to root for, and he has displayed some awesome abilities, but lets face it, He's remembered for things like dragging down and neutralizing TS, who some thought was going to KILL Randy, for 25 minutes, at age 42 or so. The fight is NOT remembered because it was a GREAT FIGHT.
That being said, at this stage of the game, their fight will prove nothing, each have their nut-hugging fanbois that will make some excuse like "It wouldn't have gone that way if he was in his prime". Randy nut-huggers will say he lost because of his age, Fedora nut-huggers will say he's out of practice since they can't find quality opponents for him if he loses, or something else equally stupid.
Personally, I think Fedora is on his way out. He's fighting cans, hasn't fought a real threat since Mirko. Lindland is a joke, Hunt was TWO jokes, Coleman is a joke that for some reason people think is a great fighter for beat. He hasn't beaten anyone worth a shit in a long, long time, and no, Don Frye at the twilight of his career is not what I would consider worth a shit, but, I digress. .
Anyways, Randy is not getting any younger, and he hasn't fought in a while, I really would be surprised if he still had it. I know people keep saying not to count him out, but there's going to be a point where you have to. Fedor, I think he's avoiding real competition, and if he is, he's doing it for a reason.

Too many other fights that will likely be better, and more likely to happen.

I think the first couple of posts hit on it. I just gave up. I think the UFC did exactly what they wanted to do. Stalled it out. I can't really say I blame them from a business stand point, but as a fan... I wish some type of agreement could have been reached with Randy to make something like this happen. I'm looking forward to the Sylvia fight, but the Couture fight is just a pipe dream now.
