What BJJ belt does Marcus Jones have?

Just curious if he's any higher than purple, I've no idea how long he's been training.

I believe on the show he said he's a blue belt.

I think him and Rampage were talking about how both of them are blue belts. That's pretty insane that Rampage is just a blue belt given how long he's been in MMA. You usually get your blue belt in one to two years. In fact, I've seen some get it even fast than that. Before you all start claiming McDojo, I studied under Relson Gracie at his Academy in Manoa. Now going from Blue belt to purple, that takes forever! I just figured Rampage would have already gotten that far.

That would be the case if Rampage was dedicated to training BJJ, I don't take him to be that type of fighter.....I even find it hard to believe he is a blue belt. And I doubt Rampage is even interested in even achieving higher belts. He'd probably be the first to tell you he is not a grappler, he's only interested in standing and trading.

I think that Wolfslair's shipment of bjj belts got lost in the mail somehow.

Yeah, blue belt is a sort of plateau where you have a group of people who stand out clearly from the beginners. It's kind of like "intermediate" level of skill used in gaming. In BJJ, you can get to blue by knowing one technique very well, or by being very strong, or something like that.

In my experience, you don't need "the full package" for blue as long as you have one trick which lets you elevate yourself above the beginners.

I am a blue belt myself, I was a kinda fast blue belt, got there in a little over one year, but I think the step up to purple / brown is going to be much longer. I am a bit of a one-trick pony so far. Well, two-three tricks I guess. ;)

Just because he is "only" a blue belt, its not a good indication of where his skills are at. Rampage probably trains grappling for MMA and does not spend alot of time training straight BJJ. Diego Sanchez was recently given his Blue Belt from Saulo Ribero when he started training with him even though he was a high level grappler and has completed and the highest level of NOGI grappling(watch his match against Marcello).

Just because his BJJ belt rank is low does not mean his grappling skills are. I know plenty of guys who have only trained NoGi with no belt ranking system that could hold there own with a BJJ black belt.

Easy to only be a blue if you don't train in a gi.
