unlike previous seasons of the ultimate fighter, selections for the first two rounds will be random, and the season after the initial round will last 2 months as opposed to 6 weeks. Also for the first time since season 2, each fight will be a full 3-5 minute rounds, though still exhibition bouts.
first round consists of coach evaluations, random fight selections (lotto), eliminations (16 fighters remaining). (winner gets $15,000, loser gets $5,000)
second round consists of move to house, random team selection (lotto), team training, random fight selection (lotto), eliminations (fighters remain in the house). (winner gets $30,000, loser gets $10,000)
quarter finals consists of team selections in association with dana white, team focus training, eliminations (winner gets $60,000, loser gets $20,000)
semi finals consists of team selections in association with dana white, team focus training, eliminations (winner gets $120,000, loser gets $40,000)
finals to be held at the TUF finale with fights remaining on the card to be voted on by the fans (six fight main card on spike, cast members only). The finals will be for the ufc interim middleweight championship (5-5 minute rounds). (winner receives $240,000, loser receives $80,000 as payment for this fight; other fighters subject to UFC contract negotiations for this fight).
(10 members out of the 30 who do not reach the finals can be voted in by the fans to fight the first week after the final episode of the ultimate fighter season 11, the fights then will be selected the second week in a format where for each fighter, the other nine fighters are listed as an option to fight and the opposite fighter with the highest percentage votes is selected to fight that fighter).
the winner gains access to both x-treme couture and greg jackson's camp, fighters, and coaches in preparation for a shot at the middleweight title against anderson silva. winner also receives a 1 fight, $1 million dollar contract (gains a 5 fight $1 million dollar per fight contract for beating silva, 5 fight 250K per fight contract for losing; bonuses and ppv cuts are not included in this total, contract subject to reduction and dismissal after each loss).

advice to the fighters: fight each fight as hard as you can for 3 reasons
1. to win of course
2. to impress the fans into giving you a shot in the finale show
3. to impress dana white into allowing you to come back in case of an injury (highly likely due to the competitiveness of this season, the extra rounds both in the fight and in the season, the 2 month length of the season, and reason 2).
there will be two months in between the conclusion of the show and the actual finale. due to the nature of the fan voting, all fighters will be asked to train hard with the team they were assigned to (or whatever team they wish) in case they get voted on. They will use the time during the show, between the show and the conclusion of the season, and the 2 weeks til fight announcements to sharpen and hone all of their skills. The month and a half before the fight will be used for weight cutting and to game plan for the opponent.
