Are TUF matches sanctioned?

I'm not sure what the official rule is for "medical suspensions" after a match, but TUF fights occur within a 30-40 day period. Are TUF bouts sanctioned by the NSAC? If so, how do they get around the medical suspensions that a fighter must abide by? Also, it appears that Sherdog and the UFC itself don't count TUF matches on fighter's MMA records? Any reason why? Are these matches not sanctioned?

They are considered exhibition fights, because the NSAC requires results of the bouts to be posted within a certain number of days (don't know how many). Once they are posted they are public record and that would pretty much ruin the realty show.

It is strange because there was a show on CBS called the contender early last year or maybe even two years ago, anyway, there fights were sanctioned and counted on the fighters records. However, the fights were not live and occurred sometime before the actually airing of the show...

So it would be interesting to find out how the contender got away with it whereas TUF could not...

The fights should be sanctioned .. those guys are going at it as hard as possible (at least as hard as the IFL guys). If a guy is injured their off the show so I don't see how suspensions play into that....

I believe the contender was filmed in california. TUF bouts are sanctioned. I think the fights are considered amatuer bouts so the outcomes do not have to be reported. I also think the fights on the contender were professional bouts and they had large audiences at all the fights (celebrities, family, etc). I am pretty sure some people online had already found out who was in the finale easily while the show was going on because of this.

Yep this is as I understand it too. Thats why their TUF record doesn't end up on it. 5-0 in a lesser org, lose TUF, scratch your head wonder why it says that when they still get to fight in the UFC, and that's what you get told. I think not being sanctioned would make it illegal. Exhibition makes sense.
