Food For Thought. 205 down to 185

Just something I was thinking of.
I remember when it was announced that the show would be LHW fighters. But didn't seem to make much sense seeing as how the MW division is in need of help and the LHW division is one of the strongest the UFC has.

I just saw one of the shows from this new season and it got me thinking. Perhaps this is their way to get some new talent into the MW division. Lets face it, if you're going to be a contender in the UFC MW division your going to have to cut from a higher weight. The top dogs, Franklin, Hendo, Silva are all very big guys and could all themselves fight at 205.
As Everyone knows, being on the show and not winning does not mean the UFC won't give you some sort of deal. So maybe this 205 season is to have guys that walk around closer to 205 so they can make weight easy for the show, but to hopefully filter them into the MW division if they happen to find anyone thats any good in it.

Your opinions please....
I only thought of this because the guys in that house do not look as big as Forrest or Rampage or Chuck. They look like Natural 205ers who could cut down to 185.

I could be wrong though.

Peace.

I thought thats what was announced a long time back.
Aw well if it is then thats good.
No TV so if I ever catch any of those shows its few and far between.

Yeah I guess I assumed that it was 205 pounders since Forrest and Rampage where coaching.

Still I swear I heard once that it was 205ers. But I guess thats was just some hear say. It was a while before the season got started.

I wouldn't be surprised if they booked it as 205 and decided to feed the ailing 185 division instead. I know 2 guys on the show and they both regularly fight at 205, yet they cut to 185 from the first episode.

Who knows, but your suspicions are probably correct

If you look at the history of the show most of the winners cut one class when the show is over. Joe Stevenson won it at 170 so did Mac Danzig. Diego Sanchez won it at 185 and he has talked about going to 155. Rashad went to 205 and could probably get to 185. Bisping is the most recent cut but more will follow.
