Also, this allows more of the public to get to know Nog and build him some exposure with the more casual fans.
The HW division is so messed up right now, why not give them some time to sort themselves out so that after the Nog-Mir fight we have some clear cut contenders instead of just Arlovski, who may not even be staying, a 1-1 Werdum, and Herring, who's 2-2 and already lost 3 times to Nog. it shouldn't seem like such a huge loss anyways, since it looked like Mir was scheduled to fight in July and Nog didn't have anything planned at all. He still would've had to wait for a definitive contender to step up, and there really wasn't one around.
Thoughts?

Good on you Kryptonic.
Not often I get the feeling a poster has a good grasp of the competitive balance's relationship with the business practices. You make some good points and I think it would be very wise of the UFC to take note, I think the extra time to develop the competitive heavy environment and possibly find a few more heavyweight prospects to develop would definately give the heavyweights a spark. Not to mention it opens the door for Brock to step up and if he delivers...the heavyweight environment would become electric, especially if its Mir holding the belt again.

Didn't Mir beat the almighty freakish athlete Brock Lesnar in about a minute?
Who deserves a shot more than he?

I understand when people say they don't want the belt to be held up because of TUF, but I 100% agree with the TS here. The UFC's HW division is hurting in a bad way right now. There really are quite a few fights that need to happen so that the division can sort itself out. Not to mention the depth in the division is all but gone. Now would be a perfect time to try and bring in some new talent to shake things up a bit.
I personally think Nog and Mir would make great coaches on TUF. Does Mir deserve a title shot? Ehhh... Maybe not. But it is still a fight I'd like to see.
I think that the one thing the UFC needs to make sure of though if the do a HW TUF, is that they are truely getting HW's on the show. Look at the cast from the last HW TUF. Who's left from that fighting in the UFC? No one! They all either dropped down to LHW or couldn't hack it in the UFC.
