The New Season of TUF

Sorry if this has been posted before, but here goes. Just watched the sneak preview of the show again, and maybe I am wrong, but isn't the whole preview with the fighters trashing the place and starting fights in the house the image of fighters that Dana wanted to avoid??? If so, I am assuming he really needs some of these crazy antics to sell the show and appeal to what I would call the "not real MMA fans" who boo when the fight goes to the mat or when the fight doesn't result in a devastating KO .... So does Dana just talk about a better image when the time is right, or am I looking way into the preview ..

I would watch either way, but statistics show that drama equals ratings. Creating an atmosphere in the show to generate this behavior will get viewers who arn't die hard MMA fans....UFC knows they already have their dedicated fans that will watch either way....the other population might not watch if it was strickly MMA and good behavior.

Good for the sport? well this is 'reality' how a lot of these guys act even if they werent on a TV show so whats the problem with showing reality? we dont need to play three blind mice and think everyone is a Matt Hamill and isnt reckless like these crazy bastards trashing the UFC house......and Dana isnt concerned with the perception of MMA and wants to make money, do you think he doesn't have a fighter equals badass mentality with his quote 'so you wanna be a fucking fighter?'

Congrats on figuring it out.

Yes, all this "drama" BS is what sells reality TV. When they did the comeback season, they spent less time in the house and the maturity level was much higher. Unfortunately the ratings were lower, despite having established fighters.

Dana tosses the jackasses that got into the house fight last season, bemoans their behavior, promotes himself as trying to establish the legitimacy of the sport. But they used it in the previews to garner interest and showed the fight on the next episode.

This is the world we live in, people don't want to see the routine normalcy of life, they want to see the trainwrecks, controversies and scandalous behavior.

Why do you think people like Paris, Lindsay, Vick, OJ, Tyson, etc.. are so polarizing?

You turn on the news, and you don't see reports about doctors saving lives, researchers developing vaccines, you see serial killers, war, etc...

To say what I already said and to further my point, look at that show "Flavor of Love" with Flava flav....if the show didnt have people shitting on the floor and girls spitting on each other than the only people who would watch would be flava flav fans (maybe two people).....so throw in that stuff and you get people that watch to see what the hell is going to happen and the ratings go up when people start talking about it. Same shit with any reality show....poor analogy with the flava of love reference but hey I tried.

You also have to factor in editing. To be fair about it, all the "crazy beavior" could be only a few episodes.

Most reality shows are edited tightly to create things that aren't even there.

I think it looks hilarious. I havent watched any of them since a few episodes of season 1 but i kind of want to see this season. it reminds me of college days except those lucky bastards dont have to lose their security on the house. My house was actually on room raiders a few years back they said it was the worst house they've ever seen. the girl actually condemned it with caution tape at the end. they did it for 3 kids in my fraternity 2 which i was living with at the time.

Just saw the preview myself. Fighting in the house, a guy kicking a hole in the wall. Looks interesting.
