You're right, he shouldn't. However, everyone has characteristics that they would be better off without. Marcus is not great at taking an insult, and that probably stems from a childhood and adolescence where he never took verbal abuse because his size garnered respect and fear from his peers. As a result of not dealing with it often, it hits him hard. That's not necessarily the reason, there are hundreds of thousands of possible reasons as to why he may take insults to heart, but he does. I'm sure he doesn't want to, it's just part of who he is. No one is perfect, and no one should fault him for reacting badly to being insulted. Deep down, it hurt the guy's feelings, and that's too bad. Karma has a strange way of working these things out, though. They said Wessel's arm was fine, but it sure looked like his radius had popped loose to me.

The only thing that was of any note in that episode was simply Marcus' suprisingly good ground game imo. That made me sit up and take notice. Im looking forward to his quarter-final fight.

I didn't put much thought into it at all. I typed it up in 10-15 minutes as a reply to a thread about it on another forum and decided to copy it here as a new thread. It's not like I sat and planned this out, I just typed what I was thinking. Also, the majority of the body of the post wasn't about the disrespect and dick tuck perpetrated by Mike Wessel, but by how Marcus made a fan of me tonight. A large portion of it is about how I was surprised how aggressive his ground game was, especially for a blue belt. I am simply a verbose kind of guy, so what I mean to be 2-3 paragraphs sometimes ends up as 2-3 pages. To be honest, I don't really put much thought into anything I post on Sherdog. Also, I'm not sure how you can gauge how much I should be writing on any topic. I'm not the type of person that makes 2-3 line posts often. If I'm taking the time to post, I usually have something to say. If you read the original post, you would see that.

Agreed. Matt Mitrione has brought all of this hatred onto himself, as well, while Marcus has been pleasant to others. Mitrione has been caught ratting out his own team twice now, on top of having a hostile attitude towards others and going 100% in sparring sessions. He is being treated the way he deserves to be treated; Marcus Jones was not tonight.

I still think Wessels a bit of a dick, but after seeing the emotional scenes when he was talking about his wife, I couldnt help but feel for the guy - noone deserves to have that kind of shit happen in their lives, and I wish him and his wife all the best for the future.

I hope you got a chance to read what a posted last night after the original post.

Once I talked to Mike last night, he did tell me that his wife went through surgery and is clear for now with another appointment in December. I'm sure he appreciates all of the support he can get from the fans.

I was definitely putting too much stock into the perception that Spike chose to give us -- Wessel being the bad guy and Marcus getting his revenge at the end. After speaking with him, I do believe that he was really just joking with Marcus, and telling people they 'sucked balls' was sort of his trademark for awhile as a way to help him relieve boredom. He definitely did upset Marcus and the situation surely could've been handled in a better way, but things went down as they did, and after hearing Wessel's side of the story, he seems much more like a laid back joker than a guy trying to get under his opponent's skin or into their mind.

This is fucking idiotic...you're blaming Marcus Jones for Wes Sims being a retarded, attention whore, jackass? For all we know Sims made the entire jacking off episode up just to get himself some camera time...he's an uneducated fucking douche that is in the house for a few free meals and nothing more. Christ, he's the 6'-10" version of Junie Browning and he adds nothing to the show, his fighting sucks, his jokes suck, his insight sucks, and every time he speaks the general public's opinion of MMA goes down.

But I'll bet after what Marcus did to Wessel last night, the guys in the house show a different attitude toward him. None of the fighters on Rashad's team wanted anything to do with being matched up with Marcus in the quarter finals.
