Idea for Smaller Show for Under 145lbs.

PRIDE does not have a weight class for the 145 & under guys, but they have done a lot to try an get there. But they are more about entertainment first, sport 2nd.

The UFC is the opposite, therefore they have less of an excuse...especially since it was them that created the official weight classes of:

Super HeavyWeight Over 263

Heavyweight 205-263

Lt.Heavyweight 185-205

Middleweight 170-185

Welterweight 155-170

Lightweight 145-155

Featherweight 135-145

Bantamweight 125-135

Flyweight 125 & Under

So they should be more accountable than PRIDE (for showcasing fighters under 155lbs.) They already have the weight classes, they just chose not to showcase the fighters.

I think they should add a "Light Flyweight" class of under 115lbs. and start a smaller show in Hawaii...for mainly fighters under 145lbs.

They could even make a TUF Hawaii show. Bring in fighters from Japan, Guam, The Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Mexico, etc.

This would give the smaller guys the exposure and introduce the fans to more exciting and action packed fights.

If it was only SHOOTO guys it might get a bit too boring in a lot of fights, but if they add some mix of Muay Thai/MMA fighters from Thailand, Philippines, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Indonesia, etc., it should spice things up nicely.

They could even start-off with all B-Class type fighters, and use the TUF show to show how they develope into more skilled A-Class fighters.

If people love to watch that hairy dog, bounty hunter haole guy, just because he's in Hawaii, then how much more would they love to tune in to a show about MMA fighting & fighters?

This would work if someone has the balls to do it.

I have a hundred more ideas like this in my head. i just thought this one up now.

Anyone listening?

I think a Flyweight class is pushing it a bit far. Bantamweight is about as amsll as you should go IF you didn't combine BW/FW and mkake it a 140 pound class, keeping with the 15 pound increments. I agree that the UFC/WEC/WFA/PRIDE should add in BW to the lineup. We generally put on a good show, however, we don't fit the stereotype of a MMA athlete so most people don't think we can fight.

I agree 100% with the lighter weight classes. Smaller guys are fun to watch.

I second Kawika's opinion.

I was trying to say that 135 is about as small as they should/would go. UNLESS they met in the middle at 140. I know that not all orgs run at 15 pund increments the whole way down so you want a 125/135/145/155/170/185/205/swh lineup?

I think it's too many weight classes. MMA does yet have, and may never have, the popularity (money) to support that many high level fighters.

we'll fight somewhere. Even the lower paying orgs have FW/BW/LW classes. They don't pay the best, but its income.
