Does screentime have any correlation with success?
I've never bothered to pay attention to the amount of screentime each fighter gets in previous seasons, but this time I've wondered, it Marcus going to do really well that we keep seeing him all the time?
Excluding people like Junie who are just attention whores, Marcus seems to be on camera way more than the other fighters, including Nelson, who you would think would get a bit more focus because he's likely to win the show.

Marcus is getting some attention b/c he is massive and played football in the NFL, already having a decent following. He also has a unique personality as a gentle giant. Interesting guy.
I don't think that camera time necessarily means you make it into the finals.
However, certain guys who lose disappear. IE- Abe Wagner. After he lost, I think he has appeared on camera for 30 seconds.

i've been making predictions for fight winners almost entirely based on camera time
and it's worked every time
the only time it doesn't work out that way is when you have a Leben/Junie
Simms pretty much only got camera time starting with his episode and then after he lost...
to carry on that theory to the next round: no way is Madsen winning

Camera time can mean a lot since they want to hype up the fighter and especially a winning fighter. But it also comes down to the best story and where it lies. A lot of the footage they have of them around the house is most likely used out of order to create a better narrative to the story. Plus, out of all of the guys on the show Marcus seems to be the better speaker and will do well on camera. That makes a difference when compared to some of the other guys who seems to keep to themselves and not do anything with anyone else.

Im glad someone brought this up. Last season I remember thinking the same thing about Damarques Johnson, he was getting a load of screen time since the first episode. And he ended up in the finals, though I do remember Wilks didnt get much of it til later on in the show.

i'd have to double check, but i had a female friend that i was pulling into the sport, she was coming to ppvs with me, so i decided to introduce her to TUF season 1 (as so many of the fighters from that one are still important, she might feel connected to some of the guys in the fights)
if i remember correctly Forrest was the first listed LHW and Diego was the first listed MW... i don't remember where Florian or Bonnar listed and I know they made the intro before the finale fight, but it kinda felt like a spoiler
and guys like Rafferty had pretty much no screen time (though Strange Brew did, but that was more about Leben bullying him)

that makes sense, I didnt really get into watching the whole seasons til season 5 but I remember the same for season 6 and 7. Mac Danzigs face was always popping up. And for season 7, in all of their commercials before the first episode was aired, they were mentioning Amir and showing clips from his fight with Steve Byrnes(I could have the name wrong). I remember something along the lines of "this kid from Virginia, Amir Sadollah has no kickboxing credentials, does he have what it takes to become an ultimate fighter?"- that was on the main commercial promoting the season. He was the only individual mentioned on a commercial from what I can remember.

Amir was a tough read, as he was friggin hilarious
he could've been like an inverted Leben/Junie
a source of positivity that was still compelling...
look what he made me do:
The Book of Amir (a respository for his most favored quotes)

I've learned that camera time does play a huge factor in guys that win on the show. That's like this last week how many times had they shown anything about Mike Wessel even though he had fought Antoni Hardonk in the UFC? While Marcus Jones has been given a ton of face time.
