In Defense Of Patrick Schultz...
... It was two knockdowns.
And I'm a Forrest fan, in fact that's putting it lightly. I actually put money on him to beat Page (who I also like).
Getting back to the point: I think Forrest was posturing a little bit because he felt challenged by Rampage's tantrum about a third round... so he felt the need to argue with Page and say "it was only one knockdown".
I have two problems with this statement by Forrest.
Problem #1: It is incorrect.
Problem #2: These guys just poured their hearts out competing in a cage. Blood, sweat and tears. Even if Forrest had been correct, the last thing a guy (Schultz) wants to hear after performing like that is the opposing coach standing in the cage four seconds after the fight arguing and debating the details of the bout Sherdog-style across the room. Forrest knows that better than anybody.
Forrest was either knee-jerk standing up for his boy or was just plain mistaken.
But either way Schultz has a right to defend that statement right at that moment, it was two knockdowns. And I think his statement right after about "get in the corner Forrest, I can't wait until you fight Rampage" is understandable and needs to be given a little more leeway by us fans under the circumstances.
This whole post is more of a defense of Schultz than it is a critique of Forrest, really. Honestly I don't think any of this is a big deal. I just see Schultz getting a lot of hate around here over what he said, and I don't see it that way, I thought it was more or less justified.
That is all! Imo.

Good post man
I met Schultz at a show a few weeks ago and bullshitted with him for a bit. Seems like the type of guy you go grab some beers with.
Your right. Probably just emmotional after the fight. Guy lost and had to hear someone discredit his hard fought fight.

Once Forrest goes over the line by engaging the losing coach in an argument while standing in the cage, also discrediting Shultz's two knockdowns, he (Forrest) becomes fair game for Schultz to tell him he is going to get his ass kicked -- and more importantly, to get back in his corner.
Yes Schultz showed him disrespect with that statement, but Forrest did not deserve otherwise at that moment. Forrest crossed the line of disrespect first.
Again I am a Forrest fan to the end, but I calls 'em as I sees 'em.

Hell yes. And I agree with Rampage, it won't go to a decision.

good post, forrest got overheated and basically questioned schultz success in the fight; its obvious he put cale down twice and was handing him his ass standing, an if i was schultz i would have popped off too, griffin made an unecessary comment that took away from patrick
