Could Marcus Jones evolve into a bigger Frank Mir?

Hi everyone, first thread here, getting ready to be shot down in flames but anyway.

I just saw the latest TUF fight. Marcus obvisouly has good ground skills and a big size advantage over most in the HW division (6"6, 265 lbs). With proper training, do you think he could become a BJJ black belt and thus evolve into a bigger Frank Mir? (who is 6"2 245). He would be a serious threat to anyone. He's 36 years old though, past his prime...

I also find the guy very likeable and would love to see him get fights in the UFC regardless of his performance in TUF.

Well the first question to ask is what his current rank is in bjj and under who.

He's 35 and has hardly any formal jj training. He'll never be anywhere near Mir. He may have a successful career, but he'll never have the same skill set as Mir.

Good question, apparently he trains at Gracie Tampa under Rob Kahn but I don't know if he even has a belt.

Maybe not a Frank Mir but he could evolve his ground skills to be very high level(not in belt but in overall effectivness of his skills) we've seen purple and blue belts sub black belts before so I have no reason to think Marcus couldn't be a great fighter, but his time is very short

I believe he is blue belt under Rob Kahn / former Gracie student / in Tampa. He is training BJJ for two year now.

I also have trained at Gracie Tampa. Rob Kahn is a BJJ wizard and BB under none other than Royce. Marcus is training with top level guys all the time, Allan Berube, Matt Arroyo, Brandon Sene, Shane Primm etc. Gracie has top level BJJ but also Muay Thai, wrestling and striking and strength coaches as well.

Between raw talent, desire and top instruction Marcus should be able to pick and choose his fights from here on out.
