Fox New's Greta Van Susteren is a Scientologist?

High profile couple never pairs church and state (interesting Greta Van Susteren article from '98)

Some other interesting parts:

"Meanwhile, Van Susteren's pro-Clinton voice hasn't gone unrewarded. In May, she sat with First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton at a state dinner for the Italian prime minister that Coale also attended."

"His (her husband) political donations also put him in the game. In 1998 he gave $20,000 to various Democratic party arms, including the Democratic National Committee and Vice President Al Gore's political action committee."

"Despite their contacts with the White House, Van Susteren and Coale do not seem to be lobbying for Scientology, unlike John Travolta, who met Clinton to discuss Germany's hardline policies against the church."

Hmmm, so the Clintons have connections to Scientology eh?

It is also interesting to note that her sister is seeking the democratic nomination for senate
Greta Van Susteren's sister to seek office (U.S. Senate)

I am completely unaware if her sister is a scientologist but if a scientologist is running for a political position and get it... Your country will burn.

In my opinion, scientology is the worst cult every conceived.

For what it's worth, the IRS did a complete 180 on Scientology's tax exemption status in 1993, soon after Bill Clinton took power.

Many influential Hollywood people are Scientologists. Hollywood has pull among democrats.

Draw your own conclusions.

And yeah, Greta Van Susteren is a clam.

The fact that they don't have to pay taxes does not comfort me in the least. I don't believe that Clinton had any sway in the Scientology vs. IRS court battle.

The fact that the people of Hollywood are famous for good, responsible decision making gives me little comfort as well...

I feel like the invasion is coming. There's a "church" of Scientology in the downtown of my area. The city is maybe 200 000 and we have one. I hope that it remains a quiet, little building and that I don't have to put up with any craziness or offers for personality testing.

.

I would have to disagree, I think Christianity, Islam, and Judaism have all proved over time to be far worse cults and far more violent over the history of time. I love how Scientology is a stupid religion, but a religion that has people being resurrected, or a religion that parts an entire sea is much more realistic and true. Christians, Islamics, and Jews have all proved over time to lead their people to violence, I would rather have a scientologist as president than a very religious person of any other cult such as the closest thing we have to Hitler (Mike Huckabee).

Seriously, why does it matter what stupid idea you believe in? They are all terribly idiotic for their own reasons, at least you can get a good laugh out of scientology.

Smart people are good at rationalizing their irrational beliefs.

Well, its not the crazy beliefs that scientologists are criticized for, its their mafia-like activities.

She never was very credible as a journalist, so that would make sense.

They do know that L Ron Hubbard was bad science fiction writer... right?

Not the same IMO.

These religions by themselves hare decent, but the people who follow it screw it up.

Just like we have laws (religious doctrine) like the speed limit, but I speed a lot on the highway.

Does this mean that the law is flawed, or I am for breaking the law?

The followers of christianity, judaism, and islam have committed violence, but the relgioon doesn't condone unnecceary violence without just cause.

Also the knowledge is free. I truley believe that no one has a monopoly on knowledge.

Even in college, you pay to learn, but I could just as well go to a library and get an advanced book, and if Im dedicated, teach myself quantum physics for free. I dont have to pay for it.

Same with true religions, they don't charge for knowledge. The quran, bible, torah is all it is.

But scientology charges crazy amounts of money for their "enlightenment" which is a crock of shit IMO.
