A Top Israeli Gen. says offensive will last weeks.
A top Israeli general said the Lebanon offensive will last weeks and massive ground troops won't be ruled out. Read more here http://tailrank.com/posts/5629499537...ill_Last_Weeks . This is strange since most said Israel would clean this up in a week. Remember hezbollah did what none of the conventional militaries in the ME could do make Israel give up ground. So now what's the over/under of Israel troops being in Lebanon a month? I thinking more unless UN peacekeepers come in.

I'll take the over on that one.
Some EU countries have expressed interest in supplying troops for a multinational force, provided certain conditions are met (ceasefire, Israeli soldiers returned). I think it'll take them longer than a month to organise it, and it'll only happen when a ceasefire is already in place.

I was reading world tribune and they were detailing how much the israeli airforce couldn't destroy hizzbollah as easily as they thought. My guess is that they will take out some of their senior leadership when everything is said in done, but the most of them, will just blend in with the population like the insurgency in iraq. We won't be seeing the fighting last that much longer. I suspect that Israel will put a shit load of troops on the border, but won't occupy southern lebanon for any extended period of time.

Long and drawn out unless Syria and Iran come into the war. You are right about air power as Israel dropped something like 23 tons of bombs on the hezbollah leader and he still got away.

Yeah it sounds like they thought they could just bomb the shti out of them, but they hadn't acquired some of the bunker busting bombs needed to really penetrate the hezzbollah headquarters underground. I also think they got totally caught off guard by hezzbollah's missile capabilities, and how far they could reach inside of israel. IT seems like they got a little over confident in their airforce's ability to take out terrorists,.

Sounds just like another country we all know. I think the hezbollah rockets are being overplayed as they have not done much damage. An hour of air strikes cause more damage than all the catsh!t (SP?) rockets combined.
