If you read any Foucault you'll understand the reason the state forbids your committing suicide is the same reason homosexuality is against the law. As far as the state is concern you belong to them. That is why dual citizenship is technically illegal (although not strictly enforced, you are expected to give up prior citizenship when declaring a new one). The issue is that all these things hurt the productivity of the state. If you are dead the state is going to have a hell of a time getting any labor out of you. If youre gay the state is going to have a hell of a time getting any children out of you.

It's probably necesarry to sort of demonize suicide, because if it was socially acceptable people would be killing themselves in great numbers. And like others have pointed out, people have usefull properties, especially in large numbers.
