When Did Homosexuality Get Bunched Up With Race And Gender?

When I was younger, being against homosexuality was like a natural reflex. I got teased and made fun of like hell, since I had a feminine voice pre-puberty. Now, it's become so goddamn protected, I wonder how the hell that happened. I remember having debates in college with a gay person that people absolutely had the right to be against homosexuality, since it's a behavior. Even if one were to concede gays might be born that way, which is still debatable, so what? There's probably people born into society more predisposed to eat dogshit or have sex with their mothers. And are we allowed to judge them for it? Hell Yes. But if you say anything deragatory about homosexuality, it's like you're saying "I hate ******s." When the hell did it happen? It makes no sense.

I'll edit out religion, since it gets bashed it's share. But I still contest, if you're a member of a religion, aside from Christianity, you're protected by society. Society doesn't tolerate bashing Muslims, Jews, etc.

Neither of you have made an argument. Someone has to explain to me why homosexuality gets the same protection.

Sexuality isent as up there with all the above. You ever been to highschool? I seriously think that even Race and Religion,people should have the right to form their own opinion on thoese attributes.

We've just accepted it. Personally I think its pretty perverted but theyre two consenting adults so they can be as filthy and disgusting as they want, so whatever. I dont call them out or make fun of them, but to me personally its pretty dispicable.

Just becuase society has decided to accept it doesn't make it right. Society accepted pedophilia in ancient times but I think people can come to the conclusion that pedophilia is objectively wrong.

Unless youre of the school of thought that there is no objective right or wrong, only subjective. Then its just whatever.

Actually, you do make a point. People judge people for being religious all the time. It's mainstream to question why one would beleive in God. Yet, it's absolutely horrendous to question homosexuality.

You choose to beleive in God, there's no arguing that. Some people beleive you have no choice in being a homosexual. Personally I think you have control over it. It may not be "Oh I think I'll be gay," just like fat people dont say "I think I'll be a fatty," but each of them have made their choice not to go with the healthier and more productive alternative that the majority of society has chosen.

Because, like race, religion and gender, bigots target this group. Generally, as a society, we look down on discrimination against others based on immutable characteristics that have no bearing on one's character.

Additionally, homosexuality is as much as behavior as love is a behavior. Surely, there is a behavioral component but the concept itself isn't necessarily behaviorally-based. There are many homosexuals that never act on their feelings, like the TS for example.
