Right now there are many Islamists gathering within Iran preparing to march over to Lebanon and fight a "Holy War". They call themselves "Holy Warriors". It's okay for them to kill civilians. It's okay to call for the death of cartoonists for depicting the Prophet. It's okay to subdue women to a lower class. It's okay to hijack airplanes or schools filled with children and hold them hostage with bombs. It's okay to murder a man for converting from Islam to another religion. All of this is okay against the countries and things that they do not like.

However if the situation was turned around and a Christian nation declared that their "Holy Warriors" were massing to fight a Muslim country, they would be outraged. If a free country started killing Christians or Jews for converting over to Islam, it would be a travesty and they would call for the death of the offending country. If a muslim was killed because he drew pictures of Jesus in a cartoon, there would be a mass uprising. This goes on and on.

Don't start trying to change the topic over to "Bush does this" or "Israel does that" because if someone else is doing something wrong then they should be condemned too. The point is that this shit, this hypocrisy is so rampant in the Middle East that is sickens me to the core. I don't see how some people can still turn a blind eye to this massive dark age mentality that grips the Middle East. There is no way to "make peace" because these types of people are so twisted that there will always be a mission from God over something stupid, such as cartoons or a video depicting the treatment of women from their culture, or even a convert. This hypocrisy is sickening. It's okay for them, it's not okay for anyone else.

I'm still wondering if it really is "extremists" or if it's the religion. I keep hearing that all these Muslims want peace, and don't agree with the islamic extremists, but it sure seems like the extremists are in power, and are the majority in most if not all of these countries. Or at the very least they have the superior military...

Well thats cause the extremists are the ones with all the money, its like saying why is gay marriage illegal in so many states, when the huge majority of americans that i've met or talked to, seem to be okay with it.

your ability to understand their side of the issue is sincerely lacking...

lebanon was occupied by israel for 18 years... palis 30 years... america politically occupied iran for several decades... don't even get me started on the british... their lands have basically been turned into war zones so the west can control the energy resources... the west in their eyes is responsible for the deaths of millions... they have a really good point because its true... we have fucked those people over and then some...

for you to stand up on your soap box and call them names without addressing the reasons they hate the west and israel shows you as a person are not interested in learning about the truth... you're not interested in working towards a true peace in the region... you simply want to speak your "muslims are bad" horse shit...

but i guess to people like you it doesn't matter that the west has committed these crimes... we are white after all and they are brown... so fuck em huh...

I don't think his point was that Middle Easterners don't have cause to be angry at the West, but rather that they are often hypocritical in how they act on that anger. For example, witness the raging Muslim protest directed against the English flag during the World Cup, because it bears a crusader cross. Yet many Muslims will happily jump onboard the jihad train, as if crusades = bad and outrageous (Christian) but jihad = good and just (Muslim). Which is rank hypocrisy.

It goes without saying, however, that America and Israel are no less hypocritical.

The two sides remain utterly convinced of their own self-righteousness and the unblemished evil of the other side. Unless moderates gain power on both sides, which doesn't appear anytime soon, the hell will continue.
