There will be no organized or rational resistance to gov't domination in America. The population is totally controlled, divided, and self absorbed. America is too isolated and selfish to organize and do anything to change our situation and politics. We are being layed off of jobs and losing homes at an alarming rate. Our finances are being raided by large corporations i.e. the oil companies, the health care industry, and other companies like Enron. Did anyone care when their parents and grandparents were losing their retirement savings to the corruption of these companies? I watched them crying in hearings in the US Senate, and no one did a thing. The Black community is effectively being destroyed by racism, discriminatory practices and policies (i.e. the War on Drugs), and a lack of the sense of community and self worth that is being perpetuated by the media. The problem is that no one cares until these things happen to them. It will take the descent of a respectable amount of the population into insanity for anything to happen and it will only result in death and imprisonment at the hands of the gov't or total anarchy outside of protected zones for the wealthy. I believe it will be the latter, and I believe it will happen shortly after America ends the occupation of Iraq and the troops return home to an economy in shambles.
In short, to answer the original question: nothing. We have had Presidents assassinated when we were a better country than we are now.
