JERUSALEM - A rocket fired from Gaza exploded in a shopping center in the southern Israeli city of Ashkelon on Wednesday, wounding at least three people and leaving two trapped under rubble, officials said.

Rescue service spokesman Eli Bean said two babies were among the wounded. Witnesses told Israeli radio stations that the rocket caused considerable damage and Bean said at least two people were trapped.

The rocket attack came as President Bush wrapped up talks in Jerusalem with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert. The Israeli leader said at the end of the talks that Israel would not tolerate attacks from Gaza militants.

They fire rockets and mortars into Israel all the time. When Israel responds, Israel is teh evil, but Palestinian attempts over and over to kill Israeli civilians are treated by the idiotic far left as "harmless" because mortars and rockets are not super-advanced weaponry and thus in the weak minds of the far left tards, the Palestinian rockets attacks should be excused.

Official: Israel to expand West Bank settlements

An Israeli official says the Housing and Construction minister is planning to approve the construction of hundreds of homes in West Bank settlements.

Shas party spokesman Roi Lachmanovitch says that Zeev Boim will approve construction on Sunday in the Beitar Illit settlement near Jerusalem, and other areas. The Shas religious party is a member of Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's coalition.

Lachmanovitch says Boim committed to the construction recently in a conversation with Shas leaders. Shas' announcement Wednesday came just hours before President Bush was slated to arrive in Israel to prod Israel and the Palestinians to negotiate a peace deal.

The Palestinians demand in the talks that Israel stop building in areas they want for a future state.
