No I dont claim to know his mind better. I am merely commenting on his action. Going to war is a brave act. Period. Especially if it is something you dont believe. As I said I am sure that he has changed his out look as he lived through the war. Like the veterans against war. How they feel now doesnt make them any less brave for what they did. Because I am not willing to classify the act of them going to war, and risking their lives as cowardice. I know many vets and have listened to some of their stories. Staying and fighting when your country calls involves no shame. As far as being goaded, well thats a matter of interpretation, imo.

That soldier has no business speaking out against the Iraq War. There is no conscription. Nobaody is forced to join the miltary. Everyone who joins the military does so out of free will and choice.

When you sign up for the armed forces, what do you think your getting involved in ? A package holiday ? You sign up for the military, you sign up for a war zone when needed. They know this.
