What are you american pigs blowing your money on?

I think we as a country have a problem with spending.
Seriously, there's a report on the news right now about how america financial future. How it's unsustainable because we promised to much and can't afford to keep said promises. I know several people who are finanaically fucked right now because they spent on credit cards and maxed them, then the companies raised the rates and they owe a shit load of money.

I'm not in dept right now, I hope I never will be but I have my spending exess. In the past few months i have bought

$1,500 new computer
$1,200 32 inch lcd tv
$550 christmas gits, birthdays etc
$500 cloths
$20 a week for the night life (I don't have much of one )
$50 a week for junk food (my more real vice)

it's all I can remember right now, I don't think it's bad, but I try to be responsible, I'm not including necessities like rent, mortgage, utilities etc. But what do you guys think? I'd like to see what others peopels spending habbits and such just for the compairson.

True?

I don't have an I pod, a blackberry, or a HD tv. I barely use my cell phone and have maxed out the allowable rollover minutes.

Most of our household money goes towards mortgage, food, utilities, property taxes, landscaping. We have no credit card debt and try to save at least $500/month. Retirement funds are in the works and should be sufficient when the time comes.

I would like to buy a hot tub/spa this year, but the one I want costs 9K. Might have to wait a few more years for that. Thinking about an xbox in the near future.

What screws it all up is the military spending. I got a howitzer mounted on the roof. A stocked bomb shelter out in the woods. I'll be spending a couple hundred thousand on credit to develop laser technology to shoot down those dreaded black helicopters. I got another costly project going that will identify terrorists at a distance using gamma rays. I had to give the finacier a second mortgage to get the funds to pursue this. BUT I need it all to feel safe.

Nice thread title! *NOT*

However I do agree that most of the population spend most of their earnings on unnecessary stuff.

Blow, Hookers, Porsche 911S's and a new set of Mizuno MP-33's.

Honestly technical devices take up a lot of the average family's purchases but then again, not nearly as much as Mortgage, food, gas, utilities and car payments.

Yep, we buy an assload of goods and burn an assload of fossil fuels. And whats funny is that as soon as another country begins to develop, what is the first thing that they do? Start blowing money on all kinds of needless stuff. Look at the emerging middle class in China. Look at the consumerism in Japan. It is a byproduct of capitalism, and a good one according to most economists.
