If you live in a major city, odds are you'll see ads and signs on the subways which talk about legal amnesty for young mother who leaves her baby at a police station, hospital, fire department etc... during the first month after birth.

I'm sure there's at least one animal where the mother sometimes kills its offspring; I believe polar bears are known to do it sometimes.

No, but I'd wonder if its possible. I said consider. I have no real explanation, so I'm drawing on my observations and other useless knowledge. Mothers are psychologically messed up after birth a lot of the time, which is true.
