I tried to use Wikipedia as a source for a paper in a political science class once. That led to a half hour conversation explaining why an open source "encyclopedia" which can be edited by anyone isn't a valid source.
Can somebody just post the full titles of the acts in question so we can look them up and what they mean on a real site?
From the footnote you didn't read: The 1790 law remained in effect until the Naturalization Act of 1795 superseded it. The 1795 law stated that the children of citizens of the United States who are born outside the limits of the country "shall be considered as citizens of the United States." End Quote from wiki.
It seems to me that there are only 2 types of US citizens. Natural born citizens....and naturalized citizens. In this light, I think the 1795 law clearly makes McCain eligible to be president since he is a (natural born) citizen...and not a naturalized citizen.

The US Supreme Court needs to rule on whether John McCain is qualified to run for President. McCain was born in Panama on LEASED land that in now leased by the Chinese. I don't think that qualifies as "Natural born". IF the SC court rules in favor of McCain does that mean all people born on leased land is a "natural born citizen"? That would also include all land leased by all American corporations as they now have the same Rights under the Constitution as the American people. Here is Article 2 of the US Constitution: " No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President" End Quote.
Please expalin this assumption you have made that Natural Born Citizen means they must have been born is the U.S. Where are you getting this definition?
It seems his folks were American Citizens. So he is American. I am sure he made the retention requirements of the day. Jus Sanguinis can give you citizenship, not just Jus Soli
