Speculation isn't going to drive up oil prices longterm. Oil is far too gigantic of a market to be subject to that kind of speculator control.

All this article says is that the price jumped up significantly in one trading day. That's a possible speculator impact. Long-term, the oil market has way too much consumption volume that drives its prices.

Now thats something I haven't thought of...thanks for that inciteful post

Discounting the national rates of wages and how gas is so high its nearly 60-100 bucks a fillup....

Do You have a job? Oils demand is inelastic, you will always buy it, that isn't the issue.

btw, more rumblings in the news on Euro being the worlds main currency reserve.

Agree with that.
Everybody wants the higher oil prices to come from speculation or just a temporary bubble or something to that kind. But when 25000 new cars get sold in China, every day!, that means they need some fuel to put in those cars. Combine that with higher demand for oil in practically every part of the world, not just China, the big oil fields fading away and the lack for new really big oil fields. Then , we got "high" oil prices. A liter of oil often costs less then a liter of water at yout local store, though. So I'd say oil is still pretty cheap.

By the way, in Sweden, we pay 3times as much for gas than in the U.S.

If all of the US' major cities and highest populated states had a sufficient public transportation system the hit wouldn't be as bad. I blame the on the states not being prepared for rising gas prices.

I mainly sell and repair instruments and musical equipment.

If fuel costs too much, waste less. Stop bitching about it and crying to the government. These Big Oil congress hearings are just a waste of time.

3rd largest oil deposit found in Brazil. Hopefully we can write some contracts for it before the damn Chinese.
