Reagan worst President in modern times?
I think Ronald Reagan could go down in History as one of our worst Presidents. Here are some of the reasons. Economic policy Reagan's "piss down" economic theory has never worked and only got the US into deep debt that cost Bush 1 the Presidency in '92. He deregulated the airlines and now the airlines are going broke. He made a Law in 1984 that says Americans cannot own modern (1984 or newer) machine guns (where was the NRA?). He took out the "truth in advertising" Law. He did away with the TV stations having to show a certain percentage of either kids or educational shows. Reagan might have been involved in illegal activities during Iran-Contra. He ran like a B!tch from Beruit when we lost all those great Marines. Reagan started the worst and most costly War in American History the War on Drugs. Just say NO what an a$$. But worst of all Reagan might be responsible for this war on terror we have now as he armed Osama. Without Reagan doing that the Soviets would have wiped out the Muj. back in the early 80's. Osama would have been dead and could have never shot the "Black Hawk Down" helio or have brought the Twin Towers down. Have we had a President that has messed up this country more in recent times? So do you think Reagan is the worst President in modern times? And something to think about for today Bush 2 is trying to be like Reagan!!! That is scary as they both believe way too much in Federal power.

A lot of people would tell you that Regan defeated the "evil empire" and won the Cold War.
I don't believe that myself, but that's what the neocons say.

The Soviets fell more from that huge oil field going dry and the workers' movement in their satillite countries. If you look at the spenditure history of the Soviet Union Reagan had very little effect. As for only 3 years the Soviets raised their spending and it was only raised about 3%. 3% for 3 years is not going to break the Soviet Union.

It's what a lot of non-partisans have come to realize too. Of course RWR had help from the Pope too.
But of course, libs disagree because they had Carter/Clinton. And the anti-Catholics will tell you otherwise too.

But people who have studied the Soviet collapse say it was the big oilfield going dry along with workers' rising up in other countries like Poland. Lech Valensa (SP?) had more to do with the Soviet fall than Reagan. And noone has said he is the worst President in modern times or put up another President's failures??

Just say no! Just say Fu#k no!
It was all about personal responsibility...it begins with you, the individual. If people didn't understand that, then...
I don't know if Bush43 is trying to be like RWR...I think Bush is a big social spender. A Neocon ain't a Reagan Conservative.
Reagan responsible for the war on terror? WTF??? If I give you a gun, is it my fault if you use it to shoot your dog?

You are right Reagan is the one who escalated it out of control as we really didn't have a "war on drugs" from the Federal level before. Here are some startling stats on the war on drugs http://www.drugsense.org/wodclock.htm . We spend $600 US dollars a minute on the WoD and over 150,000 Americans have already been arrested this year for hemp something the Founding Fathers grew.

the soviet union defeated itself, he had very little to do with it, that system destroyed itself
