210 days times 12 hours is 2,520 hours.

Divide my pay by the hours I worked and I was paid $13.90 an hour, straight time, not figuring in any overtime. If this was based on a civilian payscale the hourly would figure to be significantly less.

This is for IT work and comms work. It's significantly low for pay in my field.

...and we get shot at.

I suppose next we'll hear how teachers are overcompensated.
This is the most extreme possible example in a time of war. Just from the number above, that's over $60k a year for the limited education most military members have. You still did not figure in your free health care, free food, free housing, tax benefits, and all the other extra incentives you get.

And again, for the other posters complaining about grunt work, it was your own personal choice. No one forced you to sign up for the job. You could have just as easily signed up to sit behind a desk, or not even signed up at all. This is my opinion. There is no way in hell someone with a GED shredding papers should be making more than an engineer. I'm suprised so many people are arguing otherwise.

Why are you okay with illegal immigrants getting free health care but our military has overcompensation in its program

I would say I'm a libertarian that leans more towards conservative beliefs than the other direction.

I have voted for republicans many times.

The people you are talking about are privates, who make jack shit.

Luba you have just about managed to be called a dumb ass from every end of the SD political spectrum, but feel free to continue.

If illegal immigrants were making more than engineers for sitting behind a desk answering phones, I would bitch about that, too.

You should get paid for the skills you have to contribute and the willingness of others to do the job. I guess you can justify the high pay of the military because no one wants to join? Ok, I might be able to accept that. I don't think it is such a bad job, but most do not realize all the additional benefits and pay the military receives. They see the base pay of $25k and get turned off.

Let me tell you, my orderly room was full of NCO's that sat on their ass, BS all day, and answered phones. That was their job. At my work center, several MOS's spent the majority of their time sitting around chatting, shredding documents, and sending out reports when there was something to do. These people have very little training, very little real responsibility, and are very overcompensated for. This is not an air force thing. I worked in a multiservice enviroment.

First name the services and MOS's?

Second what do you think most offices do?
