Gendarmeries tend to be separate entities from the military, because their duties involve civilians. The force the Pentagon is discussing seems to be built around an active duty combat brigade.

You could have a point, though. I don't know enough about the issue.
We don't do that here on Sherdog. We know everything. Next time just call the dude ghey or a romo or a TUF newb.

Is there something we're not being told about rogue nukes? That's the only reasonable explanation for this silliness.

This has to be stopped. An active duty combat brigade deployed in America?? What is their mission? How does this stop a "catastrophe"? It dosent stop a national catastrophe, it controls the civilian population and basically does the governments bidding. This is a HUGE deal!!!

Whats to stop an ambitious general from marching these guys right into d.c.? it wouldnt be the first time in human history it has happened. This is exactly why our country has lasted so long, the military has never had an active role domestically. The founding fathers warned about this kind of thing...........

Bear in mind the signing at Northcom last February. US and Canadian military can be interchanged now. That is the US can have Canadian military to help in the case of "civil unrest" and vice versa. This, I believe (though I could be wrong) this includes use of prisons as well. How's stuck in the middle of nowhere in -40* weather, 3000 miles from home sound?
