I personally DON'T believe in it and think it should be reformed. I'm asian-american, born and raised here and had high ACT/SAT scores and grades. However, other races (i won't be specific) were getting into better colleges than I was despite the fact I had better grades, standardized test scores, and extracurricular activities. Even though asian americans are clearly a minority compared to hispanics and blacks, I was considered a "majority" because of my ethnic background. Personally, I think college admissions and jobs should be based upon the individual him/herself, not the race. Discuss

we believe in the idealism that skin color should never matter and all people are equal therefore all people should have the same requirements for being selected for a job or school out of fairness.

liberals on the other hand shout on high.......you dont have enough people with a different skin color. therefore showing that to liberal racists.....skin color fucking matters a huge deal.

My thought is that it is a clear violation of the equal protection clause of the U.S. Constitution, plain and simple. I find it absolutely ridiculous that the Supreme Court finds a war to basically provide legal protection for racism.

It's bs and kind of insulting since it's only woman and the "dumb" minorities that get it. I did a report on it this year and found that the racism in hiring has alot to do with class background and getting into colleges better than what one can handle was actually causing dropouts among black students at least.

do you know for a fact that other minorities got into better colleges even though you had better grades etc ? or are you just assuming ?

TS you are naive if you think race is not part of the individual, in fact, it is one of the master status in America. You didn't get into a college because you didn't have something they desired, so get over it, they didn't sit down and say "well lets see, this asian kid has better grades but we are going to directly deny him and pick an underrepresented minority".

Last year I applied to graduate school because I wanted to finish up my masters. I left the race section blank. They called me and asked. Yep. I told the guy I did it on purpose, and asked if keeping it blank would prevent me from being admitted. He said yes, because it was an incomplete application. I asked if I could just write "N/A" in it, for not available. He again said no. I did not complete the application. Shouldn't matter what race I am.

Isn't it well known among people already? The smartest and most qualified students aren't always getting into the best school because those schools need a certain quota.

Im Puerto Rican and I think AA is basically a diss to all minorities. Its a law basically saying that we're not as good as the others so we need special treatment. Not only is that bogus and unfair to the rest but how is that suppose to help me? All it does is show me that I dont have to work hard to get anywhere in life.
