Obama slams smear photo

Obama campaign manager David Plouffe accused the Clinton campaign Monday of "shameful offensive fear-mongering" by circulating a photo as an attempted smear
|
Wow. First, Obama looks pretty damn good in that pic. Second, Obama's campaign manager is a racist and a bigot for thinking that a picture of Obama wearing his traditional dress is in any way a "smear". Third, how on earth can calling Obama Muslim be a "smear"?! Islam is a great religion.

It's Islamaphobic fear mongering.
Just as claiming that you're a Christer can get you votes, claiming that your opponent is a Muzzy can cost him votes.
Also, LB, your reply echoes the Clinton camp's reply:
The Clinton campaign issued an official response to the growing tempest - but the statement from campaign manager Maggie Williams did not respond to the central question of whether staffers circulated the photo.
“Enough,” Williams said in the statement. “If Barack Obama's campaign wants to suggest that a photo of him wearing traditional Somali clothing is divisive, they should be ashamed. Hillary Clinton has worn the traditional clothing of countries she has visited and had those photos published widely.

You knew the way the Clinton campaign responded that Obama's camp played right into their hands. They are saying "It's just a photo of Obama in traditional dress BFD, Hillary has worn traditional dress while visiting foreign countries before too". Basically they wanted Obama's response so they could say "Hey you're looking to play the race card and play the victim here"
Clinton is desperate. Obama should be very wary these next 10 days. She's now ripping off Edwards populous campaign and resorting to the same rah-rah screaming speeches she has ridiculed Obama and Edwards for.

So?
But Obama IS (or was) Muslim. His father was Muslim, and his mother had to convert to Islam to marry him. So little Hussein grew up Muslim.
Nothing wrong with it of course. I for one will vote for him.

Yeah. He was a Muslim until age 10 or something, right?
And now there are rumors that he will not put his hand over his heart during the pledge. WTF is that? It is blatant smear tactics to bring this crap up.
Up until age 12 or so we are almost completely under the control of our parents; we have very little autonomy. I don't think a Madrassas from age 5-10 means he's a Muslim now. I mean, he's gone to the same Christian church for 20 years. That isn't the behavior typical of a Jihadist.
The sad part is that those attacking him have very little to go on in terms of 'bad' things he has done during his adult life. They are attacking his childhood, his drug use as a high schooler, and things his wife said. These things are blatant smear attempts.
I guess that's politics though.

Richard Dawkins had Christian parents and went to religious school from kindergarten through high school.

A complete lie.
Obama's mother and step father were non religious. His father became an atheist. Obama was never a Muslim, he was raised without religion and adopted christianity later.
In Chapter 6 of the book, titled "Faith," Obama writes that he "was not raised in a religious household." He describes his mother, raised by non-religious parents, as detached from religion, yet "in many ways the most spiritually awakened person that I have ever known." He describes his Kenyan father as "raised a Muslim," but a "confirmed atheist" by the time his parents met, and his Indonesian stepfather as "a man who saw religion as not particularly useful..
