The most stupid saying I hear repeated often!
"Embolden the Enemy"-what a completely full of shit term/saying.
I do not give a fuck what we say or do, it does not embolden the enemy. People are responsible for their own actions, and to say that someone else is even partly responsible for someone elses action, is complete crap. whether it is Abu Grabib or the New York times, these things do not convince a non-terrorist to become a terrorist, that is something they chose by themselves because they are fucking crazy or suffered a huge dramatic event(AKA-fucking crazy) and not because they now think it is a good idea because someone said that he shouldn’t take away Americans rights to fight terrorism.
I keep on hearing this term, but it is NEVER backed up with any Quantitative stats, just a bunch of worthless hearsay.
What do ya'll think?

i think you're right to some extent, but keep in mind that if all the news, not a single incident, are being "properly" presented by the media, they can be used to create a very anti-american sentiment. imagine what a radically islamic version of fox news could do. and if you feed the idea that america is teh evil to people (that don't have much other ways of seeing the news) long enough, it will do a big part in motivating them to make their choice. it might not actually create terrorists, but it's definitely a huge help for terrorism recruiters.

still does not explain why somepeople can be immersed in that type of environment and not turn out to be violent at all. It takes a certain type of person to kill, especially to kill people you do not even know, over nothing.
I can see your point about a constant cultuare of misinformation can effect ones views and values, but it is still the individual who will act on hate.

Welcome to the wonderful land of conservative catch phrases. They are like programmable robots that periodically download a new list of catch phrases from the mainframe that is Karl Rove and his fellow ilk. Here are some other lovely ones:
Compassionate Conservatism
Turning the corner
Activist judges
Enemies of Freedom
Axis of Evil
The world is safer without Saddam Hussein in power
Ruthless Dictator
Freedom is on the march
Feel free to add-on!

Yes, it can apply to anything. think of teenagers, i rememeber when people freaked out over Gangsta Rap, saying it will embolden kids to become outlaws, when the VAST majprity that listen to anytype of music are not crmilinals. Anyone dumb enough to do something crazy because someone suggested it, had problems before they were emboldened.
