Perhaps polls aren't an exact science? Everyone was beating Obama's drum... yeah, New England voters must be "racist." It couldn't have anything to do with the fact that Obama's resume is thinner than any other candidates? Maybe Hillary's wimper at the women's conference solidified the woman's vote? Meh, they're all racist...

Uh, just to be clear I didn't close the thread. I'm guessing some other mod closed the thread because where I was taking it ... I got out-modded. I have the power to close threads, but not to keep them open.

For the record, I find "racism" a virtually meaningless accusation. The whole "diagnose somebody with the evil ism" approach is really absurd. So I'm not accusing anybody of being racist, as I find the accusation of racism to be generally retarded. I just meant to say that people voted in general along lines that cleave to their own groups, including racial, and that the polls reflect this. It's a boring, predictable, neutral political fact. The people most like Hillary ... voted for Hillary. Shouldn't be any controversy about that.

To date, I've only closed one thread in the warroom ... and that was because it was a stupid thread started by a whitebelt. Generally there isn't much that offends me on substance -- it's just stupidity and lazy trolling that gets me riled up.

Actually I think the WR has been really good the last couple of months. The "article spammers" have been absent.

I do think that this board is over-sensitive to race related topics. It is possible to have a reasonable discussion about race relations and such issues without resorting to hatred and venom.

Perhaps if we could talk about it then we could make some progress in this area. Race does play a role in our society and until we learn to have cival discourse on the subject and stop fearing addressing it we have no hope of coming together.
