Obama has stepped up his outreach to the Jewish community in recent weeks after videos of Wright's speeches surfaced where he criticized Israel and expressed sympathy for the Palestinian cause.

Among other things, Wright has denounced Israel as racist and suggested tension between Israel and the Palestinians had contributed to the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Wrigh did say a lot of outrageous things, but the above are not among those. I have a feeling Obama's support for Israel is just talk, and that he resents having to kiss ass in public like that.

I'll be amazed if Obama won the election.

much of the aid going to israel is in the form of $$ which has to be spent on military hardware

now make sure you are still following me and understanding, if not go back to the previous line and re-read before continuing..


this $$ is then paid to the various US based weapons maunfacturers who produce the goods..

in such a way YOUR govt caters to not just the israeli lobby, but also your own weapons manufacturers who themselves have a very strong lobbby with many senators simply voting for the bills becuase a loss of such weapons deals would signal the closure of manufacturing plants and thus manufacturing jobs in thier own states... and we can't have you dim wits unemployed can we?

this is one way of proping up domestic business without actually giving them direct subsidies, it also ensures that this particular market remains a staunch consumer of US goods as israel will spend its own $$ on US weapons also

Ah, you're so right. Israel "buying" these weapons with US taxpayer money is clearly much more advantageous to the US than some other country buying the same weapons with their own money. It's a pretty subtle concept, need to be very smart to get it.

half his voter base likes him because they think republicans are owned by israel, but he gives seemingly weekly ass kissing speeches to israeli lobbyists and wants to increase aid to israel x4, i imagine people who want the US to dump its money into the ocean with a dunce cap on are united on this issue.

He manages to belong to a fundamentalist church yet say people who don't vote for him are "clinging to religion" at the same time, definitely uniting the atheists and christians

which other country its not like weapons are a finite commodity here, obviously there arent too many o****ries in line and profits by the manufacturers need to be made + the jobs
