I didn't realize this thread would drive Breckenridge to legalize. Great job Poll Starter!

Ummm? What?
I keep hearing this from legalization proponents. "Alcohol is worse than cannabis." "Marijuana has no negative effects whatsoever." "Studies that I can't name or have corroborated have proven it." Alcohol results in liver disease. Weed resluts in respiratory disease, especially when smoked (vs vaporization or ingestion.) Long term use of either is shown to result in lowered testosterone, anxiety/depression. Short term use of each makes you shitty at driving and decision making (i.e., Resisting the call of the sea donkey offering up some fur burger.)

Weed is NOT a harmless drug, but should be studied and treat as data becomes available, NAMELY that it is no way shape or form as damaging for the majority of its users (not all) as where it is currently scheduled: Crack and Cocaine...stupid lack of common sense.

I would legalize pot but not coke. Coke, it's a hell of a drug.

I would vote yes.
Honestly I don't see how someone can argue against the prohibition of mariijuana if they have never tried it. Sort of like sitting around and reading about shooting a gun and proclaiming to be an expert without ever actually shooting the damn gun.

There have been nearly 50 years of medical studies that have essentially proved the opposite.
We're talking about a substance that is literally so safe, that you can't physically consume enough of it to overdose on it. It's impossible. The same can't even be said about Aspirin.
The fact that it's scheduled as a class 1 narcotic is a complete fallacy that stems from the off-base and racist propaganda of the 30' and 40's.

It's cliched in this argument but:
Alcohol use directly kills about 20,000 Americans each year... that number goes up to about 100,000 people a year if you include drunk driving, suicides, etc.
Marijuana kills ZERO.
You claim the ZERO is bullshit? Than how come we have NEVER seen any contrary stats being paraded by the DEA? You don't think they would love to put out stats saying "Marijuana kills _________ amount of people a year"? But they can't... because there are none.
Next time you visit your Doctor, flat out ask him what substance is worse for you. See what his answer is.
