Frankly, I think the Anglo countries should form their own bloc. Why would you want to join the europeans? They do not share your language or your style of law. I cannot wait to see what will happen to English Common law in the midst of a civil law dominated EU.

Sure we have our differences. Brits think yanks are a bunch of fat, gun toting, uber capitalist war-mongers (kinda like the British were before they lost all their power). We think you are either a bunch of effiminate Hugh Grant wanna-be's or drunken chav football hooligans. Still at the end of the day, we have more in common with each other than we do with the Europeans. I think you will find that America will become easier to deal with as the world re-enters a bi-polar or multi-polar paradigm.

Great Britain is made up of England, Scotland, Wales and NI

The Scots have promised themselves a vote in 2010 on indepence

NI is still wanted by a vocal section of Ireland (although I believe that NI people dont want to leave the UK)

Wales already has its own parliament and someone WILL campaign on the back of an independence vote.

Being English this means I am waiting to be double pentatrated by Wales and Scotland DEMANDING independence (but still subsidised by the ENGLISH tax payer)

The Anglosphere is not a bad idea. We could formalize it as the current flag with 50 stars would look a bit better with 60.
