Elections 2000 --- The Leave Us Alone vs. the Takings Coalition
The "Leave us Alone" coalition includes taxpayers who want the government to reduce the tax burden, property owners, farmers, and homeowners who want their property rights respected, gunowners who want the government to leave them and their guns alone, homeschoolers who wish to educate their own children as they see fit, traditional values conservatives who don't want the government throwing condoms at their children and making fun of their religious values.
The Leave us Alone coalition also includes those Americans who serve in the military and police as they are the legitimate functions of government that protect Americans' right to be left alone by foreign agressors or domestic criminals.

I guess I'm a bit of a libertarian. All's well but that PC not hurting the religious folks feelings bullshit. Also realistically those rubbers need to be handed out at school and sex ed. You can't have the culture telling kids to fuck but not how to avoid STDs and pregnancy. And don't try to say government engineering of the culture.

I am all for libertarian principles but most conservatives today want all the good side of libertarianism ("leave us alone") and none of the down-side ("we still want government money.") So conservatives complain about free condoms in school but then they want welfare for their daughters when they get pregnant. They want little regulation of markets when they're getting rich and subsidies/bailouts when they don't. They want to home-school their children to teach them traditional beliefs but then complain when they are made fun of for an unscientific viewpoint.

"Stop taking our tax dollars to pay for the war that we support and the countries we want to free!!!"
If this Norquist guy was serious in his beliefs he would be voting for Mr. Barr.

While conservatives talk of getting government out of people's lives, they have powerfull groups within the conservative movement who want government in people's bedroom and imposition on society of their religious ideology.
And yes I know this isn't all conservatives as some are only fiscally conservative and don't care for the social conservatives.

I don't think conservatives help that cause at all.
