Jefferson as Pres, and Jackson as VP.
Or vice versa

I agree. Jefferson would make an excellent President. He would be universally hated though. Democrats would dislike him for advocating small government and Republicans would hate him for being an elitist, loving France and leading the dissent against the Alien and Sedition Acts.
When President John F. Kennedy welcomed forty-nine Nobel Prize winners to the White House in 1962 he said, "I think this is the most extraordinary collection of talent and of human knowledge that has ever been gathered together at the White House — with the possible exception of when Thomas Jefferson dined alone."

That's only because Reagan hadn't been elected yet.

Washington could navigate us out of this political maelstrom we're in.
Adams could deal with hippies.
Jefferson could fix the economy.
Polk could deal with illegal immigration.
...how can I choose?

Despite all the huge names being dropped here, all of them would be totally ineffective to cause the change people seem to want in this thread... mostly because they'd be dealing with the modern Congress. If we could import the Congress of a certain administration, that'd be better. People forget, the President, mostly, can only work within the confines of the laws Congress makes... change has to start in the legislature.
