A good guide to how honest and authentic a religion is is how open they are with their information. For example, Scientology only allows a member access to more and more knowledge the higher they get and the more they pay, we only know the stuff they really believe from ex-member who were high level thetans or whatever. Same with the basic freemasonry model, and its the same with Mormonism. They try and move further and further away from Kolob and spirit babies and the like, but its still in their core beliefs which they will reluctantly acknowledge if really nailed on the point. You have to be a member a long time Ive heard to get the full story of this.

Here is a good cartoon someone made a long time ago about them.

YouTube - Cartoon banned by the Mormon church

In contrast to this though, you have Christianity who's information is available to anyone with $10 to spend in a book shop or who has time to go and talk to someone. None of our information is hidden.
Right. The church has never tried to conceal anything.

I have first-hand experience with Mormonism, some of their beliefs are quite shocking.

Mormons are very secretive about their beliefs. I used to work with one, and he was very reluctant to discuss the details of his beliefs, but willing to try to convert me frequently.

Mormons basically believe they are the most advanced form of Christianity, they've taken the Bible and added to it, and claim that only their brand of Christianity is the true version and that Orthodox Christians are all going to Hell, while they will go to Heaven.

They believe Jesus & Satan are brothers, that all people are able to become like Jesus Christ, that they'll each have their own planets etc. Some of you by focusing on polygamy are ignoring much more rediculous beliefs that they will admit to, who cares if some Mormons take more than one wife. Mormons will have many children very young, and all of them will be Mormons, this is how their religion has grown so much in such a short time. That along with the fact that they establish temples in very poor areas worldwide and provide food and water, in exchange for converts.

I would prefer--hypothetically--a megalomaniac bedouin, bringing a couple thousand true believers with him, telling me to submit to his religion or die. bright faced kids who earnestly tell me about their naive belief system are just scary.

It's pretty sad that all different types of religions push people away from God, usally younger people.

I had to find my faith on my own, I was never baptised or brought up in any church. I found personal spirituality and God because I felt it was the right thing to do because of what was going on in my life.

I hate to knock organized religion, but some of the fallocies and belief pushing makes me stay away. If it works for you great, if not, I don't think that you should (drink the Kool-Aid) because someone else forces you to.

I think mormons offer modern day proof of how dumb religion is and how fast it can spread,You see all of these little kids on bikes riding around America trying to preach and talk down to older people like they know it all,One day I asked these kids to talk to me and tell me about their religion. They talked about joseph smith and how the only way to get into heaven was to follow his teachings,so wait you mean to tell me mormons in the last 300 years found out the only way to get into heaven? thats right the kids said.

So basically their religion is only around 300 years old and you have these kids riding around on bikes not watching tv ,drinking, jacking off or anything remotely bad ,all in the name of some guy named joe smith who invented a religion based off some obscure writings 300 years ago ........wow now their numbers are in the millions and growing

Now maybe just maybe other religions started in a similar fashion
I, for one, appreciate your insights. The depth and breadth of your understanding of religion is remarkable, and we are all enlightened by your obviously doctoral opinion of the subject.

Religion is like manure... the older the bullshit the harder it is to smell before you step in it.
