Have the Democrats failed?

They were elected to get us out of Iraq. Why haven't any of the campaign promises that Pelosi put forward reached the President's desk? NOt one...

LET THE PRESIDENT VETOE THE BILLS....... that way the public we'll see that the Dems are trying....

We've gotten nothing but empty rhetoric; they have failed.

Yep.

Want to know what they've accomplished since taking over power?

Are we seriously blaming the democrats for not being able to pass super majority bills?

Are we blaming the democrats for what the republicans are doing?

I'm not loyal to the democratic party by any means, but how can you blame them for what the other party does?

They never had the balls to cut funding for the troops in the first place. It was a bluff. Keep in mind the bill for funding that just passed is for several months and they will get another chance at it in October.

I think this thread is about blaming them for what they haven't done. Then again, Nancy Pelosi is the most incompetent rambling retard in the House, so it's not much of a suprise. I seriously thought they were going to replace her when they took over. As House Minority Leader she could run her dumbass mouth all day, but as Speaker she's got the bully pulpit to ram through legislation.

Look what Newt Gingrich did in '93. He was riding a Congressional mandate, had the support of the general population behind him, and rammed home a series of bills that it's now popular to credit Clinton with. Of course, at the time, Clinton was reduced to talking about the "relevancy of the presidency" until Oklahoma City brought him back in approval ratings.

The Dems have got to wisen up and make a switch before they blow their window.

Of course they didn't and they shouldn't. If they cut funding, Bush will leave to troops in the field to die to make a political point. For the Dems, it was lose-lose.

The Dems can't bring the troops home alone. They never could. That's Mens Rea's point. They don't have enough votes.

But the worse this war gets, the more and more likely the Dems will get a President in the White House and then they have a real chance of bringing the troops home.

Also, I noticed that no one mentioned that Dems got a minimum wage increase. Funny how no one mentioned that. That is a huge accomplishment. The Dems have actually done quite a bit to be honest.

I have never voted for one Dem in my entire life but the irony of Republicans saying Dems haven't done anything when their most recent Congress has been named the "do nothing Congress" is so loud it's deafening.

The Democrats promised a parcel of legislation that would make it easier to pay for college and health care, take America’s energy policy out of the hands of foreign potentates, overhaul Congressional ethics and adopt all of the recommendations of the 9/11 Commission.

Versions of all those bills had passed or were ready to pass by Tuesday. Democratic leaders said they were proud not just of what they passed, but how they passed it.

Bush already vetoed the bill with the ti****ble for withdrawal.

It's clear that Bush equates leaving with losing and staying with winning, so that's the real problem.

As a side note, this is one of the big changes that needs to be made to help the immigration problem. Cheap foreign labor thrives on depressed wages.
