Der Terminator wants your fingerprint B4 buying ammunition

Heading out to Wally World to buy a brick of .22's? Be prepared to be treated like a criminal.

Ammunition Bill Signed into Law | News10.net | Sacramento, California | News
Quote:
Assembly Bill 962.

It requires handgun ammunition to be kept behind the counter where customers cannot access it without assistance. It also requires gun shop owners to thumbprint people who buy handgun ammunition, as well as record their identification and provide that information to police.
WTF? All criminals will have to do is send someone else to buy their ammo, or drive to AZ or NV.

All this does is fuck over places that sell ammo. Here's one of those 'reasonable' gun control laws for all you gun control dickheads to be proud of.

California, Über Alles

First off, will this not go a long way in the field of forensics?

Secondly, why would anyone who's into "legal gun rights" be opposed to a measure that's simply an attempt to bring more legality to gun ownership? If I'm trying to legally buy and possess a lethal weapon, I'd like there to be as many steps as possible put in place to prevent people trying to buy and use them illegally.

How does this prevent criminals from getting ammo? By making non-criminals jump through hoops? (I'm operating on the crazy assumption that criminals don't follow gun laws to begin with).

Just makes it possible to trace the ammo back to the point of sale in case a crime is committed using said ammo. Of course criminals will just send someone clean in to buy for them, but if a crime gets committed, and the ammo gets traced back to the buyer, do you really think they're not going to flip on the person they bought for to avoid prison? This seems like a reasonable measure to take when dealing with a product that is meant to kill things.

The whole point of the second admi is to keep the gov in it's place. There is no other reason stated for it. If the gov is doing all the regulating of the firearms industry it makes the purpose of the second admi pointless.

How does that work exactly? Is the ammo stamped with some kind of serial number that's gonna let you know what gun store it was sold out of?

Kill things? How about defending things?

Does it make sense that we as a society need to be protected from illegal abortion providers? Would it be a reasonable measure to have every woman that walks into a Planned Parenthood leave a fingerprint? It's all about saving lives.

This is just so they know where to go first when Obama says it's time to take away all the guns.
