obama won't rip mccain when it comes to national security issues. if obama touches that he is done. just like mitt romney tried to go toe to toe with mccain about iraq.

Obama has more layers to his thinking and arguments than McCain.
Romney and McCain operate on about the same level.
As far as national security, that is the area that I think McCain is the most fuckable. Obama will tear down McCain's slogans, anticipate his responses, and hang him out to dry. I'm sure that McCains supporters will not see it that way when it happens, but the independents who decide this election will.

I agree. Romney and McCain were basically arguing the same points about security in Iraq. McCain just ended up being the candidate the republican base had the most faith in about Iraq and terrorism. With Obama, he is going to face the other side of that argument. The only way McCain can win is to convince the independents that Iraq is worth the cost. Given the current sentiment about the war, it's an uphill battle. Obama knows that, and will be ready for McCain's argument.

If they debated fairly this would happen, but the moderators would probably not ask the hard questions like that. Just like the Bush-Kerry debates- softball questions mostly.

From what I've heard and read, tons of people were furious with all the fluff questions they got, and how little focus there was on the actual issues.

It's kind of like in A Few Good Men, "but I strenuously object!" You get it on the record, and move on.

In politics the personal attacks when. Because if she lets them go they won't saturate the minds of the voting public, because the voting public does not pay attention all-at-the-same-time.

I think McCain's toughness and tenacity will destroy Obama, especially since he is a lightweight on foreign policy and experience. The voting public does not care about "layers of thinking and arguments" or Nixon would have beaten Kennedy on the televised debates.. They care more about posturing and appearance on the TV format. And McCain will look tough and in command, it's his strong point, whereas even Clinton has looked toughter than Obama in the forigen policy portions of debates.
Where Obama can take on McCain and win is on domestic issues and the big ideas he champions. He won't go head-to-head with McCain on foreign policy if he can avoid it... especially in a general election when he has to go back to the center on the "war on terror". If Obama sticks to his game plan and strengths it will give him the most power.
