To those who rail against Mamet's editorial, I ask you to see his words, not as switching sides, but rather being non-partisan. He is no more a conservative than John Kerry, no more a liberal than Ron Paul. He is saying that he refuses to be the liberal equivalent of the bible-belt, 9-11 referencing, short-sighted, Republican-by-proxy, "U-S-A! U-S-A-!" chanters (and urges others to do the same.)

Remember. The most radical revolutionary becomes a die-hard conservative the day after the revolution.

The real problem with this thread is that people fail to distinguish between "political liberal," and "social liberal." I have no doubt that Mamet retains his socially liberal positions e.g., gay rights, whatever. But he has, somewhat, altered his politically liberal positions, such as whether "big government," as represented, for example, by LB Johnson's "great society," war on poverty, etc. He now seems to favor smaller government. In essence, he has come closer not to being a conservative, but a libertarian.

Mamet is a hardline pro-Israel conservative (he's jewish). Just watch his interviews on CharlieRose.com. So his comments on NPR=National Palestinian Radio is no suprise.

That said, Glengarry Glen Ross is one of my favorite movies and I really enjoyed the movie Spartan. I'll be watching Redbelt soon only because of Mamet
