Arabs are comprised of a variety of tribal groups who share the Arabic language.

Muslims share the religion of Islam. There are a number of Muslims who are not Arabs (Kurds and Iranian/Persians for example.

i'm not 100% sure myself, but i think the difference is that 'arab' is an ethnicity (hence, there are Jewish arabs) and 'muslim' is a religion (hence, there are Israeli muslims). More specifically, if you speak arabic then you are considered 'arab.' So technically speaking, Iranians are mostly not arabs (they speak Farsi). 'Muslim' is easier; it's a religion. So if you believe in Islam, you are a muslim.

Because one is an ethnicity that you are born with, and the other one is a religion you can convert to(but apparently not denounce without a lot of people becoming very, very angry).
