This is just part of a social revolution in the Muslim world where in lieu of labour movements and democratization movements radical Islamists are taking the fight to their authocratic governments to achieve what they'd consider freedom.

yeah I am for one... you can call me very liberal - I am... so that takes away the usual label to this issue.

I'm pretty tired of Muslims getting out of control over little things - take the Danish cartoons for example.... all of a sudden, millions of people start freaking out because their profet was portrayed.

Its somewhat insencitive but lets get real here.... the biggest reason smaller things like this cause an uproar is because people are still living hundreds of years behind the times and take their religion overly seriously. As technology seeps into culture and people are connected to larger things, mainstream and through TV they let go of some extremist energy.

The danish muslim leaders piss me off. The cartonns were drawn and no one paid attention to them. The the stupid fuckers decided to take the cartoons to a muslim conference 6 months later. Those idiot have blood on their hands (100+ people died in the riots) because their feelings got hurt.

I don't think devotion is as big a problem as lack of respect for any other train of thought (be it religious or otherwise). You can't get that mad about some cartoons after doing far worse to other groups.
