First of all what kind of past does the kid have? And what happened with the kid after removed? If the police are able to scare some sense into the kid, allowing her to becoming a contributing member of society instead of a delinquent then it was in her best interest.

You are serious about this. Ask everyone else to leave. Get real man. Myabe kick the little hellion out, not everyone else. You at a sporting event, one person acts up you kick everyone out? Your at a club one person is being a dick, the bouncer throws everyone out?

Way out of line to take her out in handcuffs. Last week I had trouble with a first grade student (also 6 years old) who became violent and combative with me and I handled him without involving the police. I couldn't teach at one point, so I called the principal and she took him away. The school has a padded cell for kids like him and they just put him in it. He went there again today and attacked another teacher while there and they called his mother to pick him up. The day I need to press charges on a 6 year old will be a sad day indeed.

But, on the positive spinning side of this, if that is an out of control classroom and other kids are acting out violently, this will serve as a lesson to them. They saw what happened to this girl and will likely avoid it now because they see some real consequences.

Don't act like a silly little child.

Giving her more attention wouldn't be "damning" the others in any way. If the behavior continues than she should be evaluated for ADHD, Aspergers, or other disorders, thats where the special aid teacher comes in. If she is uncontrollable than remove her.

What do you suggest? Damn the little "monster" at six years old? I bet you're one of those upper class kids that believes in normal as if it isn't something relative to a particular social group. Kids lash out, especially when ostracized from the social group; labeling a child criminal at a young age can put a perfectly ok child on a road of deviant behavior.

They should bring back corporal punishment in the classroom. When I was in middle school, we got paddled on a daily basis.
