Death is just as much a part of life as life itself. I do not believe in Heaven or Hell, but I do think people should stand to respect the flag. Infact I think these people should be forced into the Military for a year, you bet your ass they will stand! When I die, if I die long from now, what will make me scared or not is if I have lived a good life and had a good family and left behind things worth remembering.

How about instead of wasting time on empty gestures, the schools actually teach the friggen constitution in class. You know, the document that actually matters!

The flag doesn;t give me freedoms, the pedge doesn't do shit for me, but the constitution is what this nation was founded on.

We ignore this shit, but want to mindlessly cling to the anthem, pledge, flag, etc.


I bet if you asked most people some basic constitution questions, they wouldn;t know shit.

The US government does a good job with directing citizins attention to empty symbols. You really notice it in the threads that deal with the Patriot Act, every second response is "if your not a terrorist then you have nothing to worry about", such a response can only come from a person who has absolutely no understanding or respect for liberal ideology.

Well ryu, its an empty gesture to you. To many its not. However the lack of education in schools has nothing to do with whether they pledge or not. Schools are shitty for a number of resons. Reference all the news lately about students beating teachers/ trying to rape them etc . Trying to teach students respect is not one of them.
