people forget that street fighting is a style, it is a bit of martial arts/boxing/wrestling; people downplay this but it's a fact.

alot of people on the street have rudimentary, layman skills; they might not have alot of moves, but they usually have a couple and they spar alot.. i know cus i see cats in the hood working on their hands and wrestling/grappling. Are they on par w/accomplished credited grapplers..no; but are they fairly competent esp when facing another untrained opp or some guy who is off the street..YES


My ex gf actually dated this dude who was in prison and he was teaching her little tricks, i.e. headbutt, shoulder bump, throwing the punch and following w/an elbow..or how to use elbows on the ground or headbutt..and some other ish.

i can't even say i am trained..though i roll w/trained guys i picked up my skills by sparring alot..standup and grappling; an then gettting some instruction, which has cleaned up my overall game..but the core of my skills is based on the time i spent actually doing it.

finally someone gets it, there are styles of fighting; people who have not been in jail or beein in a bunch of brawls don't get that and i have seen many instances where people use certain tricks to win fights.

i know people who been to prison and they fight diff than people who have not or have not even grown up in tough areas; their mindset is diff, u can't talk ur way out or back out or quit. You have to fight and fight to win..hurt..maim..whatever it takes to win. Being in a killer mindset and not giving a fuck is a HUGE ADV IN ANY fight.


once i was gonna fight a dude who had been in prison twice..was a notorious street dude, know to lay cats out..get into crazy (weapons/multiple people ) brawls and some gun play. Now i been training on and off, i rolled w/lots of bjj guys from blue to purple, judo blkblts, wrestlers, shooto types, boxers, fc karate, kenpo, kickboxers in grappling/standup and even some mma type training. Not saying i am great or anything, but i hold my own and people give me respect for the ability i have and i have won real fights w/trained and untrained dudes.

but i was a lil shook when this dude wanted to fight me, cus i knew his background and what he was capable of and i knew how far he would go; worse comes to worse i would have fought him, but to say i would have won..i dunno. An even if i did i would have had to take a beating to do so. Oh yeah hes was 6'3 about 220..im 5'11-171 at the most.

an on a sidenote i have a female friend who used to box, she was in prison and got into alot of fights; she said alot of those chicks in their were hard as hell to fight.. an this is a person w/a boxing background sparring amateur men/women. An yet she was having a hard time fighting untrained chicks who had been in for a few years..what does that tell u about streetfighters or people from prison.

i'm gonna go ahead and take a guess that it was the little hand and head movements that he would do before dashing into an opponents chest, ala jose ribalta and a large number of his taller opponents. is that what you're talkin about? if my guess is right, i always thought they were just subtle feints, i had no idea they actually had a name.
