Ruslan Chageav vs Matt Sklton plus Denis Boystov Today in Europe

Ruslan Chagaev 229.2 vs. Matt Skelton 254.6
(WBA world heavyweight championship)
Taras Bidenko 220.4 vs. Cisse Salif 262.7
(WBA Intercontinental heavyweight championship)
Denis Boytsov 222.6 vs. Tommy Connelly TBA
Egon Roth 235.8 vs. Sandor Forgacs TBA
Vladimir Tereshkin 233.6 vs. Remigijus Ziausys 216
Jan Zaveck 146.8 vs. Pietro d'Alessio 143.3
Anthony Crolla 131.8 vs. Tomasz Kwiecien 132.2

Personal favorite Ruslan Chageav defends his belt for the first time today against ex k-1 star Skelton. Though it's still unclear why he pulled out of the unifacation match against Sultan, Chageav is still a bright spot in the devision, though he'll have his hands full against the larger mauler. Plus don't forget uber prospect Denis Boystov who has been KOing people left and right and still only 21 and already 19-0, fights should start in a few hours, can someone do a pbp?

The undercard has begun and here are the results from fightnews

After a eight month lay-off, Spotlight-heavyweight Egon Roth scored a second round knockout over Sandor Forgacs. A straight right ended the fight at 2:02 minutes. Roth stays unbeaten and moves to 19-0 with 14 KOs.

Welterweight Jan Zaveck, who is promoted by SES boxing, stayed undefeated and won a tune-up bout against Pietro d’Alessio by technical knockout in round four. The bout was stopped by d’Alessio’s trainer Uwe Schuster after numerous unanswered punches followed by a knockdown. Official time was 2:33 minutes. Zaveck moves to 24-0.In the opener,

British super featherweight Anthony Crolla scored a fifth round knockout over Tomasz Kwiecien. The stoppage, however, was a bit late. Crolla, who scored knockdowns in the second, third and fifth round, kept his unbeaten record intact and moves to 7-0.

Chagaev won, but it was rather close. Skelton pushed Chagaev in the ropes each time and worked there and Chagaev scored the cleaner punches. Matt just ran out of steam. Skelton made it look easy, but he's just too damn old.
I never noticed the so called huge skill difference.

i saw the fight

imo it was a boring fight watched the ufc 80 live and saw the chagaev fight an replay on setanta . ufc 80 was miles better

the fight well
Skelton started well and could of won 2 of the first 3 rounds . then through the 4th 5 th and 6th rounds nothing really happened for the first 2 minutes of the rounds expect for skelton leaning on chagaev and chagaev fighting in the last 30 seconds of the rounds . i think in the 6 th or 7th was the only time skelton was in any danger of a ko in the fight .

then for the last 3 or 4 rounds skelton looked wrecked . the biased setanta commentator had it chagaev by 5 and chagv by 1 . i think the 4 was more realistic that the 6to 7 the judges gave it .

sorry for the worst recap of a fight ever , but after watching ufc 80 it sucked

Skelton didn't really bring anything, it was more Chagaev not performing very well. Skelton was just trying to do his smothering, huggy thing and Chagaev wasn't really interested in wrestling with him so he just hung out and stole rounds methodically by punching him at the end.

Boytsov was given a showcase but at least he showcased himself, getting the KO in the 1st. Bidenko badly outboxed Salif.
