Not sure since details are very limited HOWEVER our Assignment Desk is reporting the gunshot was to the back of the head and this story will likely find its way on to our local sportscast.

There are conflicting reports out there as of now.

RIP Alexis. He was the cousin of my uncle. He meant a lot to my home country of Nicaragua and will be missed.

In about 1977,'78, there was talk that Arguello and Duran might fight.

It would've been one for the ages.

Arguello was at his best at Super-Featherweight 130 lbs, and I think he's #1 All-Time for the division.

Duran's best was at Lightweight 135 pounds.

Circa '77, '78, there was talk that Arguello might go up to 135 and fight the champ Duran.
Duran ended up going up to Welterweight instead in 1978.

In Arguello's era pound-for-pound, some people ranked Arguello ahead of Ray Leonard, Marvin Hagler, Tommy Hearns, Salvador Sanchez.

Arguello and Sanchez also missed each other by a matter of months. Salvador for a short time was Arguello's mandatory.

Arguello should have stayed there just a little bit longer and we could have seen it happen. Oh well. Great fighter, class act, and many will miss him dearly.

I hope he's remembered as favorably by everyone who knew who he was as he is here. Power, class, charisma, a true champion.

unbeatable at 130 pounds. There will never be another guy like alexis, he truly gained everyones respect for being a warrior and a gentlemen. Fighters in the current era should watch arguello and take a lesson on the sweet science. He became a success from his own ironwill, talent and desire and he gave his people someone to look up to. Great fighter
