Obviousley it needs work, and is unfinished. But, I think its ok for the circumstances in which it was drawn. I stayed up all night, the night before it was due as my final project in Art, started at 11pm and ended around 3 or 4 am. De La Hoya's eyes are off, as well as Mayweather's folded arms. Not the greatest pic either.
hate to be an ass, but when did Floyd fight Michael Jackson?

Update: I recently have been commisoned to do a huge Floyd Mayweather peice, 6 photos in all, ghosted together. I also have been working on 2 8x10's. One of Muhammad Ali and another of Tupac Shakur (also commisioned). Ill be posting up the new ones upon completion.

The Mayweather one is going to take a good chunk time so this thread probably wont be updated for awhile.

Word spread and now I will be starting one of/for Duncan Dokiwari (as soon as we can get ahold of each other). So in my downtime I've started doing some 8x10's of different fighters to get my portfolio going.

So Here is what I have so far. (I will be adding all new photos to this post to keep them in the same spot)

Picture of Mike McCallum and some goofball (me) holding his Portrait at Top Rank Gym.

James Toney (Early in his Career)

Tommy Hearns

And Mike Tyson

Jake Lamotta (1/10/08)

Marvin Hagler (1/14/08)

All of these 8x10s are sketches basically and were done with graphite pencil on 80lb sketch paper.

I will update this thread every week or so with the new work I have been doing. I also have a Myspace where I can post and promote my artwork for free right now.

Here is the link for that:

Let me know what you guys think and shoot me some feedback.

Laters.

Side note: The POS scanner I have really lightens up these pics.
Wow, great work man, very impressive.

Update: Alrighty, over the weekend I finished up David Tua and I also finished the Tupac Shakur peice I had been working on (commision). I cant update my original post anymore because it only allows me to post 6 img codes. So I guess I'll just post them up as they come along.

David Tua (1/31/08)

Yes, that is a line of hair on Tua's head. Dont know why he would shave his whole head and just leave a sliver of hair like that.

Tupac Shakur (Commisioned Request) (2/02/08)

Havent gotten started on the Mayweather one yet. Hoping to by the end of this week.

Yes sir I have. Just hard to find a good quality picture of a younger Joe Louis. I have a couple in mind. Think he'd be a great one for my next project after I finish the huge Mayweather one Im starting this week..

Yeah the Pac one is a full on commisioned peice, not like the other sketches I have been posting. Took about 4 and half hours total for that one compared to the 2 or so hours it takes to do one of the others.

The sketches, I do mostly to give you guys a good (but rough) idea of my pencil/shading skills. As I get more and more commisioned peices, you'll see much more quality in the finished peices including color backgrounds, ghosting images, blending etc.

I like doing the sketches though because I can get them done fairly quickly getting my portfolio beefed up.

Been working on the Mayweather portrait mural, 3 pictures out of six in so far. Its been giving me fits in certain spots and I am contemplating just starting the whole thing over.

Anyway, to get away from it a bit yesterday, I went ahead and did a Miguel Cotto 8x10.

Miguel Cotto (2/27/08)

Ive got a little bit more shading to even up around his lips but all in all, I think it came out pretty good.

Update: Well, the guy that wanted the Mayweather portrait up and changed his mind and said he wants another fighter instead. I said WTF? I'm 3 photos in already on the Mayweather peice. He said He would make it up to me after I finish the new (Dont know of who yet, said he'd get back to me).

It kind of worked out anyway because I didnt like certain parts of the peice. Mayweather looks cross eyed from certain angles and every time I tried to reproduce one of his photos, It would look, well, retarded. Anyway I decided to keep one of the three I had finished already and add it to my portfolio.

Floyd Mayweather(3/05/08)

This was the upper left corner of the Original peice. It was the only one worth keeping and showing off IMO.
